The Sahiwal is one of India's most respected indigenous (Bos indicus) dairy breeds, originally from the Sahiwal district of Punjab. Reddish-brown in coat with a docile nature, Sahiwal cows produce 8 to 10 litres of A2 milk daily under good husbandry, milk that is naturally rich in fat, protein, and beta-carotene. Their hardy genetics make them heat-tolerant, disease-resistant, and well-adapted to traditional grazing-based dairy. Along with the Gir cow, Sahiwal is the foundation breed for premium A2 ghee production in India.
